Classroom Expectations

1)  Arrive to class on time.

If you are not in a seat when the bell rings you will be marked late.

2)  Come to class prepared and ready to learn.

Bring your books, journals, and pencils to class every day.  Begin working on your daily journal entry immediately after entering the room.

3)  Respect others!

Shouting out and raising your hand while others are speaking are extremely disrespectful behaviors towards your teachers and fellow students.  While others are speaking you should be attentive and quiet.  This will eliminate distractions and convey respect which will be returned by everyone in the classroom.

Positive Consequences

·         There will be no assigned seats.  This is a privilege that can be removed!

·         We all work together, as a team, in an encouraging, safe, comfortable environment.

·         The class will earn 1 point for outstanding behavior each day that it occurs for the entire period.  When the class has earned 10 points free time will be awarded.  During free time you may read, draw, share ideas, talk quietly with your friends, or eat snacks.

* The teacher will report good conduct with a phone call to the student’s home.

Negative Consequences

·         First offense- verbal warning, student’s name is recorded.

·         Second offense- lunch detention, after-school detention, or Saturday detention (depending on the severity of the offense).

·         Third offense- the student will be sent to a safe, non-threatening area to collect his/her thoughts (the hallway or a safe area of the room) if necessary.  If the offense is serious enough, the student may be sent to the principal’s office with a conduct referral.

* Anything following the second offense will be accompanied by a phone call home.
