Diagramming Newton’s Laws

with Inspiration

THE PLAN:  It’s time to get excited about our first project of the year!  For the next three days we will be using the computer program Inspiration to create diagrams of Newton’s three laws.  These diagrams will include symbols that represent Newton’s three laws and explanations of those symbols.

THE PURPOSE:  This project will help us to understand how Newton’s laws work together.  Our understanding will be deepened since we are choosing symbols that are meaningful to us and explaining their significance.

THE PROCESS:  These are the steps that we will follow in order to reach our final goal:

1.  Brainstorm

2.  View examples

a.   Go to www.mrmartella.com and double-click on SCIENCE LINKS.

b.  Go all the way down to the bottom of the page.

c.   Double-click on the last link.

3.  Individual conferencing with teacher to select symbols.

4.  Follow Directions for Inspiration handout to complete project.

THE PRODUCT:  ALL PROJECTS ARE DUE FRIDAY, SEPT. 26!  Provide your best effort, stay focused, and create a great diagram!  They will be displayed in the 7th grade hallway.  See the back side of this sheet for your scoring guide.
